Northeast China is considered to be the provinces of Liaoning, Jilin, and Heilongliang. I visited Liaoning and Heilongjiang
on a cold February 1991 trip when I was on Spring Festival break during my semester at Nanjing University. I returned to the
Northeast in November 2004 to give a lecture at Jilin University.
